In the case of electric car charging and solar installations, you must have an earth fault breaker type B according to the new electrical installation rules 2017 (Edition 3 of SS 436 40 00). It is a Swedish standard that should be followed. The reason for this is that an ordinary earth leakage circuit breaker can stop working if it is used in these contexts, which in the worst case can lead to fire or electric accidents.

How can it be that there is never talk of earth-fault switch type B for single-phase wall outlets such as charging hybrids are discharged?
ANSWER: The new rules from 2017 apply to all new installations, a three-phase charging station is in principle always a new installation and these must either be equipped with earth-fault switch type B or supplemented with such When it comes to wall outlets for charging electric hybrids, these are often then earlier and the requirements do not apply to these. Based on this reasoning, it is never wrong to supplement an old outlet with a single-phase earth-fault breaker type B. We also recommend replacing old wall outlets with new ones of good quality as old wall outlets can cause slippage contact and hot running if they are heavily stressed for a long time.
